NFL Week 18 in review

–The big winners of the final weekend of the season were the Bills, Texans, Packers, Cowboys, Steelers and Bucs. The losers were the Jaguars, Colts, Dolphins and Eagles.

–The Packers, Bucs, Bills and Cowboys all won their final games to clinch division titles and a first round home game.

–The Texans beat the Colts Saturday night  and then were handed the division title when the Jaguars lost to the Titans.

–The Colts lost to the Texans when they couldn’t complete a fourth and one pass and were eliminated.  The Dolphins lost second seed and will be a wild card team after loss to Bills. The Jaguars lost to Titans and were eliminated after starting off 8-3. Trevor Lawrence lost his last five starts. The Eagles lost to the Giants to finish 1-5 and a team hasn’t ended 1-5 and won a  playoff game since 2000. 

–The fans lost when the NFL decide to stream the Miami at Kansas City wild card game Saturday night on Peacock so you have to sign up for their service to see the game.

Previewing NFL Week 18

–The best game of the final weekend of the season will be the last one. Buffalo is at Miami Sunday night on NBC with the winner taking the division title. Miami has clinched a wild card spot but Buffalo could be eliminated if it loses unless it gets some help to get a wild card spot.

–Indianapolis plays at Houston in a Saturday night game on ESPN and ABC. The winner of this game wins the AFC South If Jacksonville loses on Sunday at Tennessee. Houston gets a wild card spot if it wins and Jaguars win. The Colts need help for a  wild card spot if they lose to Houston. The Jaguars will be the feature early game on CBS.

–The Cowboys can clinch the NFC East title with a victory over the Commanders. In the unlikely event they lose, the Eagles can still win the division by beating the Giants but they are more likely to be the fifth seed. The Dallas game will be the feature late afternoon game on Fox. The early feature game on Fox will be Minnesota at Detroit even though Minnesota needs help to get into the playoffs even if it wins and Detroit has the third seed.

–Tampa Bay lost to the Saints last week but can clinch the NFC South by beating the two win Panthers in their final game on Sunday.

–Green Bay can clinch a wild card spot and the seventh seed by beating Chicago Sunday. This will be the feature late game on CBS.

–Pittsburgh is at Baltimore in the first game Saturday on ABC and ESPN. Baltimore may rest its starters since it has clinched top AFC seed and Pittsburgh needs help to make the playoffs even it wins.

NFL Week 17 in review

–The playoff picture became a little clearer on the holiday weekend as the 49ers and Ravens nailed down the top seeds. The Ravens scored a surprising easy victory over the Dolphins, 56-19, while the 49ers, as epected, beat the Commanders. Four division titles are still up for grabs 

-=Miami’s one sided loss to Baltimore means they have to beat the Bills in the final gme to win the AFC East. The Bills win the division with a victory. The Bills could miss the playoffs if they lose and both Pittsburgh and Jacksonville win  their final games. Pittsburgh plays the Ravens, who may rest starters since they have clinched the top seed. 

–The Jaguars ended a four game losing streak by blanking the Panthers, 26-0, and can wrap up the division title for the second consecutive year by beating the Titans in their finale. They beat the Titans last year in the finale to win the division. If they lose, the Colts-Texans winner win the division. If the Texans beat the Colts, they get a wild card spot if the Jaguars win.

–Philadelpphai’s surprising loss to Arizona means the Cowboys can win the NFC East by beating the Commanders in their finale. If the Cowboys somehow lose, the Eagles can still win the division by beating the Giants, but they likely will be the fifth seed as a wild card team.

–Despite Tampa Bay’s loss to the Saints, the Bucs are still expected to win the NFC South by beating the worst team in the league, Carolina, which has two wins. Owner David Tepper is so frustrated he threw a drink at Jaguars fans last week.
