Previewing NFL Week 9

The feature game this weekend will be played Monday nightwhen two division leaders – Buffalo and Minnesota – meet in Minnesota.

Both teams are 6-1 with Buffalo leading the AFC East and Minnesota leading the NFC North. Carson Wentz will start for Kyler Murray, who has a hamstring injury, for the Vikings but Kyler has been struggling so the switch to Wentz may actually help the Vikings.

There is one other game featuring two division leaders –Denver at Carolina. But the Panthers lead the NFC South with a 3-4 mark so Denver, the AFC West leader at 6-2, is favored.

Two other division leaders aren’t playing. Jacksonville, the AFC South leader at 6-2 routed Baltimore, which was playing its third string quarterback, 33-10, Thursday night and Pittsburgh has a bye.

The New York Giants, the NFC East leader, at 4-2-1 is expected to beat Philadelphia, which has lost six straight and is starting Joe Milton at quarterback. Tanner McKee has been benched after going 0-3 after Jalen Hurtz was sidelined for the season while dealing with blood clots. San Francisco, the NFC West leader at 6-1, is favored to beat Las Vegas.

The doubleheader game on FOX pits Green Bay at New England with both at 5-3 and needing a win.

Cincinnati, which is 5-2, can tie Pittsburgh for the AFC North lead with a victory over Atlanta in Madrid. It starts at 9:30 on the East Coast. Atlanta at 3-5 is only a game behind Carolina in the loss column in the NFC South.

In the Sunday night game, Chicago is 6-2 and favored to beat 3-5 Tampa Bay. If the Bears win and Minnesota loses, the Bears take over first place in the NFC North at 7-2. The Bucs are only a game behind Carolina in the loss column.

The doubleheader game on FOX pits Green Bay at New England with both at 5-3 and needing a win.

Cleveland at 5-3 needs a victory over New Orleans to stay a game off the lead in the AFC North.  Deshaun Watson is in the concussion protocol so Shedeur Sanders may get the start.
