Colin Kaepernick is like the guy at the county fair who sits above a tub of water while fair goers throw balls attempting to dunk him in the water.
Trying to dunk Kaepernick remains a popular sport in the NFL and the media these days.
In what amounts to blaming the victim, Kaepernick gets bashed for teams not signing him after he refused to stand for the national anthem. He doesn’t get saluted for standing on principle.
The latest bashing was by Albert Breer of The MMQB, who quoted a 49ers employee – it wasn’t clear if the employee is still with the team – bashing Kaepernick’s work habits. Kaepernick is gone, but the 49ers can’t stop taking shots at him.
Breer said the employee told him Kaepernick wouldn’t stay late at the facility, saying he would take the work home instead.
Breer also said coaches felt Kaepernick’s shoddy prep work resulted in inexplicable mental errors.
If that’s true, Breer doesn’t address the issue of why he wasn’t benched for Blaine Gabbert, who played the first five games.
Breer then said it was “time for Kaepernick to talk for himself.’’
Believe it or not, Breer said teams are wondering if Kaepernick is truly interested in playing in the NFL because he is not saying he does.
If they’re wondering, why don’t they bring him in for an interview?
And what can Kaepernick say in a press conference or on social media to convince an NFL team to sign him?
He’s already put out the word that he doesn’t plan to kneel for the national anthem if he’s signed.
That hasn’t made any difference. The NFL teams have spoken with their actions. They haven’t signed him and probably won’t unless a team is hit by injuries.
Breer also questioned why Kaepernick retweeted a story that blamed NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for teams refusing to sign him.
Breer also questioned why he tweeted a picture of a runaway slave patrol badge and a police officer badge in the wake of a police officer being acquitted in the killing Philando Castile.
Maybe Breer should take a look at the dashcam video of the shooting to understand why Kaepernick is upset.
Breer said the tweeting is something Kaepernick shouldn’t do “if he wanted a job that badly.’’
It doesn’t matter what Kaepernick wants or whether he tweets. The NFL teams have already decided not to sign him.
Giants co-owner John Mara even said he got letters from fans claiming they would never go to a Giants game again if the club signed Kaepernick.
These same fans weren’t upset when the Giants re-signed punter Josh Brown despite knowing his history of domestic violence.
And the Giants have a long waiting list of people wanting to buy tickets if any fans want to give them up.
So now we wait to see what Kaepernick will be bashed for next. The MMQB seems to be making it a cottage industry of Kaepernick, with Breer and Andy Benoit bashing Kaepernick while the site’s founder, Peter King, defends the unemployed passer.
Meanwhile, Kaepernick has been silent on Twitter about the latest bashing by Breer and the 49er employee. Kaepernick gets knocked for that, too. No matter what he does, his critics bash him.
Kaepernick does have his supporters. His jersey is still selling well, and he has more than a million followers on Twitter.
But don’t be surprised if the Kaepernick bashing continues.
He is a disgrace to all Americans who put their lives on the line and died for that flag. He
deserves whatever he gets.

This county was stolen and founded (not built; we know who did that) by White men who were violently rebelling against what they thought was unjust rule and treatment. How hypocritical and ironic that Kaepernick is being vilified for having simply and silently protested what is still a country sorely lacking in equal treatment for all its citizens.

As a current ARMY Officer, it makes me sick when Americans who never served call Kaepernick a disgrace when he is only exercising his rights. As someone who swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution at all costs, I have no problem with him not standing because that is his right. Just like how I fight to protect the rights of atheists, gays, black, white, etc. … there is nowhere in the Constitution that states one must stand for the anthem. I may not agree with him, but it’s his right to do what he wants, and as somebody who puts their life on the line to protect that right, I have no problem with him not standing. So speak for yourself.
Thank you for using common sense. I personally didn’t like his silent protests last year, but I’m smart enough to understand he was just exercising his rights as an AMERICAN. I don’t have to agree with his beliefs, but I do understand that he has a right to PEACEFULLY protest.
I pray that you feel the same way about this justice system that lets murderers who are supposed to put their lives on the line for the public go free after killing an innocent civilian. That officer deserves whatever he gets, right? What a joke.
No one cares. Media just won’t let it go. If he felt that strongly, he wouldn’t stop now.
