NFL Week 7 in review

There were more questions raised than answered in the seventh week of the NFL season as two of the three unbeaten teams lost and no teams have yet to emerge as frontrunners for the two Super Bowl berths.

Minnesota is the last unbeaten team at 6-0 after beating the Colts, 16-10, and there are only three teams with one loss. Eight teams are bunched with two losses and five more have three losses. Even the five four loss teams can’t be counted out. The eight five loss teams are long, long shots to make the playoffs and 1-6 Tennessee and the only winless team, the 0-6, Chargers lead the race for the top pick in the draft next year.

Here is a look at the teams who came out of week seven with zero to four losses:

Unbeaten

The Vikings are the only unbeaten team but they play in one of the toughest divisions and they have four division games left although they have already beaten the Packers and Bears.

One-loss teams

San Franciso is now 6-1 after suffering a 29-20 loss to the Falcons. The oddsmakers still like their chances of making the Super Bowl but they are dealing with injuries and they play Minnesota and Seattle back to back in late November.

The Chiefs lost their first game to the Seahawks, 20-3, and are now 5-1. The Chiefs showed they are vulnerable if a team can stop Kenneth Walker the way Seattle did but they still lead their division.

The Bills had the bye and lead their division at 5-1. They still have four games left against Miami and the Jets and are in good position to get the top AFC seed.

Two-loss teams

Jacksonville comes off its bye at 4-2 and has a virtual lock on AFC South division title since all three division teams lost. Houston, which lost to the Giants, 27-21, and Indianapolis, which lost to the Vikings, are both 2-5. The Titans lost to the Browns, 27-24, to fall to 1-6.

The Browns victory over the Titans left them in a tie at 5-2 in the AFC North  with the Steelers, who beat the Saints, 16-10, in Paris. The teams play this Sunday in Pittsburgh in a big rivalry game. Cincinnati is 4-2 after routing the Ravens, 35-13.

Denver is 5-2 after beating the Cardinals, 30-16, and can tie the Chiefs for first place in the AFC West when the teams meet Sunday in Denver.

The Bears beat the Patriots, 30-24, with Caleb Wiliams back at quarterback. If he stays healthy the Bears have a good shot at making the playoffs.

The Giants are 4-2-1 after beating the back-to-back Texans with J.J. McCarthy making his first start and lead the NFC East

The Lions are 4-2 after beating the Jets but have a tough game Sunday against the unbeaten Vikings.

Three-loss teams

The Patriots fell to 4-3 with the loss to the Bears and are now two games behind the Bills in the AFC East.

The Ravens lost to the Bengals to dip to 4-3 and still don’t know when Lamar Jackson will return. But the other three AFC North teams have lost two games so they could make a run if Jackson returns soon.

Seattle is 4-3 after its impressive victory over the Chiefs and could still make a run if they recover their Super Bowl form of a year ago.

The Packers 23-13 loss to the Cowboys dropped them to 4-3 and they are in last place in the NFC North.

The Panthers are 3-3 after being routed the Bucs, 42-13, but are still in first place in the NFC South.

Four-loss teams

The Cowboys are now 3-4 after beating the Eagles, 38-21, and are very much in the running for the NFC East title because they are only a game and a half behind the Giants in the division.

Atlanta is 3-4 after beating the 49ers and are only a game behind the Panthers in the loss column.

The Rams are a disappointing 3-4 after beating the Raiders, 35-21, but could still get in contention if they get on track.

Las Vegas fell to 3-4 with the loss to the Rams and are a longshot in the playoff race since they are in the same division with the Chiefs and Broncos.

Washington comes off its bye seemingly out of it at 1-4-1 but are still only two games behind the Giants in the loss column so they can’t be counted out.
